Specialty MGA hires Marsh’s Smithson to lead global finance business, networks unit
Professional MGAIt is a dedicated MGA platform under the MNK Group and has appointed Marcus Smithson As head of the Financial Lines and Networks division, the company continues to expand its international expertise.

Based in the company’s London office, Smithson will lead the existing underwriting team to accelerate the development of its global financial business and network portfolio. He will be responsible for overseeing the growing diversified books, including the key areas of Directors & Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity (FI PI) and Bankers Blanket Bonds (BBB).
He has more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector and joined Marsh’s financial institutions team in senior roles. He spent nearly ten years at Generali in São Paulo, during which time he built and led the financial business and network portfolio in Latin America. Earlier in his career, he held a series of underwriting and portfolio management roles at QBE in London.
His appointment is part of Specialty MGA’s broad and ongoing growth strategy focused on building a differentiated product portfolio through its flexible MGA model and international distribution network.

Specialty MGA specializes in practice areas including, but not limited to, real estate, construction, energy, marine, construction, aviation, financial operations, accident and health and surety. It has four global offices in the UK, Italy, US and Morocco.

UIB names Burns and Wilcox’s Webb as division directors – Binders
United Insurance Brokers (UIB) Appointed Kevin Weber As Director of the Adhesives Division, he further strengthened the company’s capabilities in the transportation and US adhesives markets.
Webb has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance market and has a proven track record in North American commercial and commercial transportation risks. He joins UIB from Burns and Wilcox Global Solutions.

Prior to this, he worked at Bowood Insurance Brokers and Howden Insurance Brokers, where he gained extensive experience in conducting business, developing client relationships and delivering bespoke insurance solutions across complex risk portfolios.
In his new role, Weber will focus on building a high-quality U.S.-focused adhesives team, with a special emphasis on the transportation business.
“I’m looking forward to the next stage of my career at UIB and excited to begin building a Binder team that is well regarded within the transport community,” commented Webb. “A key priority will be working to establish UIB London as an approved Lloyd’s underwriter and further develop its US binder proposal.”
Webb’s appointment reflects UIB’s continued investment in its binder business and growth in key international markets, the company said.
