AI Mode: Features and Ranking

 Clio

So in this line graph, I just selected three characteristics. I think we have more than 10, maybe a dozen features tracked right now. This highlights for just three of them how common they are in different ranking positions as you go down. So this is position 1 in the AI mode results and this is position 10. We’ll go down to position 10 just for the sake of this chart. This is position 10 in the AI mode results.

So you can see that the first result is almost always, about 90% of the time, the first result is almost always a paragraph, that block of some sort of detailed text. But then, as you go down, the cards, which is the thing that looks like organic, gradually builds.

So normally, if there’s anything that looks like organic, it’s right at the bottom of the AI mode result. You have to scroll down quite a bit to find that thing that looks organic. While obviously, in normal SERPs, it’s nowhere near as bad. In our most recent data, you see organic come first about half the time.

So yes, there is often something that feels organic. But no, it’s still not as good as you would see, from our SEO perspective, as good as you would see the regular SERP.

The other type of result I’ve included here are lists. I just put it in because it’s the third most common, and it kind of highlights the fact that these are very text-heavy. A list is another text-rich feature. These are very text-rich results overall.

Anyway, I hope you found this data interesting. There will be much more data to support thisconnected directly below. A thousand thanks.
