Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced that a Cherokee County man was sentenced to 24 months probation for insurance fraud.
Chad Ashe, 43, pleaded guilty on Jan. 21, 2026, in Cherokee County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud. After the car accident, Ash added collision coverage to his policy and filed a claim, lying about the date and time of the accident. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 8, 2026 to 24 months probation and fined $1,000.
The case was investigated by the Kansas Department of Insurance and prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
