The Ohio Bar and ALPS Insurance (ALPS) announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which ALPS will acquire Ohio Attorneys Liability Insurance Company (OBLIC), Ohio’s leading provider of professional liability insurance for attorneys.
The transaction reflects the parties’ mutual commitment to enhance the long-term provision of legal malpractice insurance to Ohio attorneys by combining OBLIC’s strong reputation and history of attorney-focused services with ALPS’s national scale, infrastructure and expertise serving attorneys.
OBLIC was established by the Ohio Bar Association in 1978 to serve the professional liability needs of Ohio attorneys at a time when few insurance companies offered legal malpractice coverage. Since then, it has grown into a trustworthy and stable insurance company with a strong policyholder base across the state. As the industry continues to grow, the continued success of OBLIC and its mission requires a partner with the resources and expertise that ALPS can provide.
