The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on May 22 that Hyundai was recalling 421,078 vehicles in the United States due to a software error that could cause unexpected braking.
The recall covers certain 2025-2026 Santa Cruz, Tucson, Tucson Hybrid and Tucson plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
Auto safety agencies say a software error in a vehicle’s front-facing camera could cause the forward collision avoidance system to activate prematurely and cause braking, increasing the risk of a crash.
The regulator added that dealers will update the front-facing camera software for free.
Earlier last week, the automaker recalled more than 54,000 vehicles in the United States due to a fire risk due to overheating of hybrid control units.
