Since its launch in 2016, the awards have been a catalyst for innovation in the insurance industry. The winners are innovative insurers and insurtechs that push boundaries, foster collaboration and make a meaningful impact on the way customers live and work.

Innovation trends for 2023

Each year, we analyze hundreds of award-winning submission data to better understand innovation trends in the industry. This year, submissions were securely fed into our generative AI model, which extracted key themes and trends from the entries.

Hours of work is done in minutes. We then shared these six innovation trends with the winners on the evening of the awards ceremony. Here’s what we found.

  1. Digital customer experience
Insurers have an unprecedented opportunity to build trust with their customers by proactively increasing engagement and delivering seamless, personalized experiences in a rapidly evolving digital environment. This trend is related to the increasing adoption of technology, data analytics and artificial intelligence to enhance the overall customer experience in all aspects of insurance.
  2. The convergence of health and well-being
This trend is driven by growing consumer demand for holistic and personalized care, as well as the recognition that promoting a healthy lifestyle can reduce claims costs and improve customer retention.
  3. Advanced analytics and personalization
The use of advanced analytics and personalization enables insurers to increase customer engagement, streamline processes and drive revenue growth. This trend is growing as insurance companies leverage data on customer behavior and preferences to provide solutions that meet their needs.
  4. sustainable development
The insurance industry increasingly seeks to adapt to growing and changing consumer and regulatory demand for environmentally friendly products and services. Operators that embrace sustainability are positioned as industry leaders supporting a sustainable future.
  5. Inclusive insurance
The driving force behind this trend is the growing awareness that vulnerable groups, including low-income families, immigrants, or small businesses, often do not have access to affordable insurance that meets their needs. Carriers expand into underserved markets, help close protection gaps, and contribute to financial well-being and stability.
  6. Ecosystem collaboration
This trend is accelerated by the rapidly changing landscape of the insurance industry and the need for insurers to be more agile, customer-centric and operate efficiently. We are seeing an increase in strategic partnerships, cross-industry collaborations, and the creation of new ecosystems that leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to deliver better outcomes.

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry to the 2023 Qorus-Accenture Insurance Innovation Awards. You are all trend setters and pioneers on the new frontier of insurance performance.
