The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit (IFAT) arrested four people following an investigation into an alleged auto insurance fraud scheme in Iberia Parish

The investigation began following a criminal referral from Timber Creek Insurance Services and the Louisiana Insurance Fraud Unit regarding allegations of fraudulent insurance claims involving Rayshonte Oppenheimer, 29, Briannie Butler, 32, Passion Keal, 24, and Quandalyn Bernard, 33, of New Iberia.

The investigation determined that the suspect made false statements during the insurance claim process following a 2025 crash involving a Pelican Waste & Debris garbage truck. If the claim is successful, the suspects could receive a total of approximately $4,000,000 in fraudulent compensation.

Between April 30 and May 1, 2026, investigators obtained arrest warrants for all four auto insurance fraud (felony) suspects. The suspect was later arrested or turned himself in and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
